No trees to hang from

I'm sure this has come up before but I'm not having any luck finding it so here goes.

I have no trees in my back yard and was thinking of just getting a couple 10ft treated 4x4's and putting them in the ground 2 feet about 12 to 15 feet apart thus giving me 2 post 8 feet tall to work with, and was curious as to if I needed any further support for the post or if just putting them in the ground with Quick Crete would be good enough....

Get 4x6 post. I have had 4x4 break while hanging.

If you can find them, pier piling posts (used for making docks) make great "trees" to hang from

Most folks recommend a 4x6 post. My water table is high, so I would also fill the bottom of the hole with gravel. I also like drilling holes through the post, hammering a couple of pieces of 2 or 3 ft. rebar through perpindicular, for added stability. Then I pour the concrete/quickrete on top.

That baby will be stable for 20+ years if it's pressure treated wood.

4 x 6 or 6 x 6 as they will hold more than one hammock. A 4 x 4, will snap. Been there, done that.

I recently saw a guy who had round posts (4-6" wide) in the ground but they were angled out. I can't recall the degrees, but it made me think at the time "that would work."

Well I bought a couple treated 4x6...10ftrs today and some quick mix and will hopefully be putting the post in tomorrow planning on putting them in the ground 2 feet, I figure I will let them set up and settle all week and hopefully have some pics to share after next weekend.

Well my post are set and I did decide to go 3ft instead of 2ft and they are about 14.5 apart so that should give me plenty of hanging room to work with, il going to go ahead and give the post the rest of the week to settle in as I work nights and will have some pics to share after this coming weekend
