First Day with my Clark North American

After reviewing many coments here in HF I was kind of scared about setting it up. So many people said how hard it was. BS!!!!

I received my Clark North American today and of course the winds were blowing about 40mph. So I went out and set it up anyway. Took me about 10 minutes and after a few adjustments, I was gently swaying in the wind. Can't wait for some good weather to set it up neatly, but on my first day, I now know I can set it up in a wind storm. So glad I went with the Clark.

Well gee, you mean you didn't set it up the first time and get in it and proceed to sit on the ground??? Wow, I feel like you've missed out on something there!!!!

Really though, I'm glad you were able to set it up in the wind. I'm still getting blowed away every time I try that.

Oh wait, maybe that's why you didn't stretch it out and sit on the ground, the WIND was keeping you airborn!!!

LOL I think you are right about the wind....
I did put my head at the wrong end... LOL I was about 6 inches off the ground. Made a quick adjustment, put my head at the right end and was about 2 feet off the ground. Blowing wind had the tarp blowing everywhere, but I did it. Just made it into a cocoon. Still have a lot of tinkering to do if the winds will stop long enough.

In my experience the Clarks set up very easy. My first time setup was around 10 minutes as well.

As for the wind just set it up head into the wind and youll have few problems.

    First Time

Well it finally got here and I had no trees to try it out. After 3 more days of agonizing over how to try out my new Clark NA I decided it was time to ask the neighbor if I could borrow their trees (I have no trees). It went up very easily, tying the knots was no problem, then I had to get in or get someone like my 15 year old son to try getting in. Well, he got in and there was no problem, so it was my turn, I slowly approached expecting to land on the ground, no, all went well, it was great. Time to get out, thats when I realized I had hung it to low. I got out but it wasn't pretty. So, I rehung a little hgher and replaced the bowline knots with the newly purchased "No Knots" thingys, it was great. Can't wait to go on a trip and give it a good work out and test different angles and such. I am thinking about the trip in Hot Springs in June. Have to check on my schedule. But, just wanted to write about my first try with the Clark and was very surprised how well it went.
