Thumbs down man what great fun

I leave for my 10 day hike next Wed. the 7TH.
Yesterday I broke at least 2 ribs doing swift water rescue training. by the time I got home last night I wasn't feeling well at all so I assumed that I have finally picked up the flu from the rest of my family. I went to the minor med and got me some meds to nip this in the bud. But there is noting better than coughing uncontrolablly with broke ribs.
I am really looking forward to this trip no matter how misarble I will be. This is the 3rd set of broke ribs I have had.

Broken ribs and flu! Be careful about getting pneumonia!! The last 3 of 4 times I broke ribs (without having the flu too) I got pneumonia. The fewest number of ribs broken one time was three, that was last time, about 10 years ago.

Just so you know, I no longer play hockey.

    Have a good hike!

That's why they no longer use elastic bands for broken ribs. It promotes pneumonia because the patient doesn't breathe fully. Tough break, no pun intended. Broken ribs are among the worst of pains. I had a brood mare plant both feet in mine when I was a young teenager. I wore the elastic band and no pneumonia, but this was in the early 70's.

    Good luck on your trip.

I was just telling Hawk-eye about the time my brother in law discovered his rib was broken only when he was diagnosed with pneumonia. That's when I learned that one leads to the other.

Beas, you will be like all the others before you, including Teddy Roosevelt, who went to the outdoors in order to recuperate! It was a common practice in the 1800s.

I like that, being in the same sentince as Teddy Rossevelt is quite an honor.
This trip was cancelled in the spring due to the death of my Grandmother. I have 2 good friends that was willing to change their schedule to make this happen. We are doing sections till we retire.
