Quick overnight test turns to advernure

Friday after work I headed to Wilson Creek to test my new DIY under quilt. I passed on the camp sites that are before the creek crossings for my favorite just past the second crossing. First bit of fun when cooking diner realized I didn't put my utensils back after John Rock no problem carved a spoon. then I got all setup it was a beautiful knight so I set my tarp high and on porch mode when I woke to the sound of rain about a gallon of water on my porch so I made the necessary adjustments and went back to sleep. side note warbonnet mamajama worked great in what turned out to be the most rain in years. So with no map " just going for quick overnight" I headed out to find a way out without a what had gone from an ankle deep crossing to chest deep white water crossing. Then God brought one man poorly equipped together with two well equipped men and two dogs two hours later we all made it across. Ask me for details an the next group hang you probably won't have to.

Looking forward to hearing the rest of the story, sounds like quiet an adventure.
You probably know but in case you don't, when in porch mode have your poles at different heights. That will drain the water.
Oh and hey from somebody else in Matthews.

More importantly, always have the 10 essentials with you. The pack into any small pack and take up very little space.

    •Rain gear
    •Water bottle
    •Flashlight
    •Trail food
