    Too Big? or Too Small

    Hi everyone

I'm a newbie to both the forums and hammock life in general. So new that I don't even know how to hang one yet. However, I went and ordered me an indoor hammock http://www.hammocks.com/hammocks/han...redhammock.cfm after hearing about how great it's supposed to be for body ailments with no substantial knowledge. I'm 5'1 and 130 and I'm not sure what size will work best so I'm not swimming in a pile of fabric. I looked at another one that was smaller http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cotton-Hammo...item3f2431243evat 64" x 100" but is that too small?

    I'm so clueless

It's a question of what's comfortable for you. I'm 5'9" and 150, but found I was not comfortable in a 120" hammock. Went to an 11 footer in 1.1 ACU ripstop and couldn't be happier. The extra room allows me to move around a lot and change positions from flat out to curled up in a ball and still be comfortable.

I'll second this, though I am actually going to a smaller hammy but I am a few inches shorter.

So I suppose there's no science to this but based on my research, people 5'3" to 5'8" usually go with a 10 ft and 5'10" seems to be the divider between the two?

I would not presume that height is the only factor in comfort. I am about 5'6" and prefer a longer hammock. Though I am fine and can fit and could sleep in a shorter one a longer one feels better. I have made a few 12 foot hammocks that are super comfortable.

The size of the hammock usually has more to do with what your willing to carry (backpacking) then comfort. A longer and wider hammock is always going to be more comfortable then a smaller, narrower one.
The extra material lets you lay at a much more exagerated diagonal, plus it allows yo to play around and fine tune your suspension. If you using this a indoor hammock then you really just need to think about what sized footprint you are going to have in your house and get the biggest hammock that will fit.

Thank you all so much! I'm really learning a lot here since I never knew of anything besides vacationing hammocks (My parents are city folk and my mother hated the outdoors)

I am 5'4". I have a hammock bliss that is too big! It is so wide that the fabric folds back over me and drives me crazy.

Adding side tie outs will pull the fabric out so it doesn't do this. I have 90" wide hammocks and have the pull outs on mine for the same reason.

I am 5'2" and love my 11' hammocks. So much room to move around and get comfy.

Might be a challenge to hang a 11' hammock indoors..I am 6'1" and a 11' hammock is just too big for me so I went back down to 10' and 10'6" hammocks and even in those, I can slide up and down quite a bit with no change in comfort.
