    Curious on hammock options

When I started hammock camping I was pushing 300#. As of today I'm 269.5# and hoping to continue downward.

I started with an ENO Doublnest due to the weight rating then switched to a double layer Dream Hammocks Dangerbird. I know the DB has a lot of bells & whistles compared to some. For reference, my current DB weighs 1116g or 39.37 oz.

What I'm starting to hink about in the long run is being able to drop weight. Where is the point where my weight gets to that I can really start looking at lighter made hammocks? 250#?

Long term goal for me is 220ish# but I think I "should" be closer to 200ish# but I'll worry about that later. I'm just looking for ideas for now.

Thanks for "listening" to me ramble and for taking the time with any help!

Congrats on your work. I know it ain't easy losing weight.

I am in the neighborhood of 240lbs. I fluctuate about 10lbs one way or the other every year. That said, I can sleep in just about any hammock without fear of damaging it...regardless of the manufacturer's guides. For instance, I've got a single layer 1.1 that I've spent a couple of dozen nights in. It stretches like mad and the comfort is not where I'd want it to be, but it holds my weight just fine. Bridge hammocks, with their lightweight spreader-bars, are also problematic. However, I've got well over 30 nights in my Ridgerunner with the original poles. I've got the fat-kid poles for it now, but still haven't swapped them out.

So, I'm comfortable saying 240lbs will get you in any hammock you want. If you want every hammock to be comfy, you're target needs to be down around 200lbs though.

    Just, as usual, my opinion.
    Trust nobody!

I'd consider a DL 1.1 or even a SL 1.7. I usually stay around 220# and I've very comfy in my 1.1 SL hammocks, but that's just me.

My Lite Owl is one of my most comfortable hammocks and it's a 1.1 DL. It weighs about 23oz with buckles and straps (no net though).

Ss- WAY TO GO!! Keep it up, your knees will thank you. As for the weight point, most mfrs show a 250# rating for the lighter weight hammocks. That number has a pretty wide safety margin, so you are probably good to go lighter weight material right now!
Treat yourself to a little sumpin' sumpin'...you deserve it!
I haven't tried the BIAS products, but a lot of folks like the light weight and wide comfort. And they re-sell well here if you don't like them.
The road to success is always under construction.
