    Clark vs Hennessy

Has anyone tried a Clark North American and a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe? I had a Hennessy and want to start using a hammock again. By the time I get a Hennessy and a underquilt the cost of a Clark looks good. I live in the NorthEast and camp in the Spring and Fall when I go.

Compare apples to apples... The Clark needs bottom insulation also...

You could always look into making one. Then the cost is a lot less, and you get only what you want and have the skills to make.

Don't believe what the Clark website says. It will need a pad or underquilt just like any other hammock. Its not a bad hammock, but it cost and I don't believe any hammock is 4 season alone.

I'll let you know about the clark next week. I bought the North American, a 3/4 60x80 ccfp to cut to fit, and a 10 degree bag. I'll let you know next week when I try it in the backyard, it should be 20-30's where I live in Northern MA. I think I'm be more then fine for 20 degree weather. I'll probably get a SPE with 1/2" ccfps, it might be a bit bulky together, but I should be fine way past 0.

    $279 for the hammock
    $66 for the bag
    $49 for the pad

    If I get a SPE 4x4 with 1/2 pads it'll be around 70.

I'm going under the assumption that inflated zip lock bags under the hammock in the 6 pockets will help insulate and the 3/4 pad wraped in a soft liner with my 10 degree bag will keep me real comfy into the 20's. If I need to go colder, just add some clothes and a SPE.

Since I never plan to see below 0, I ought to be good.

Or spend a little extra on the sleeping bag and get an even lighter setup that's good to 30*.

I am in the process of evolving( I call it this cause I'm not buying new gear I don't need, I am making gear lighter. Or at least that's how I explain it to my wife)
