Your speaking of Rust-o-leum's brand name NeverWet which is a super hydrophobic 2 part aerosol application. I'm into the tech field and have been watching this for about a year pre-production. The application is ruined by oils (I believe once the oil is removed it will work again) and detergents of all kinds more or less. It theoretically would work swimmingly to "dry" a tarp quickly aka shake it, or other fabrics perhaps, but not much else. The durability of the application has also been drawn into question many times, but it is quite remarkable after a fresh coat.

I use 91% isopropyl on my hands when I get into pine sap, will do the same with my tree straps when the occasion arises.

Microwave your straps.. The sap should loosen up and melt right? Id recommend removing all the metal hardware prior to trying this..

I've got sap on my straps a couple of times. I just pop them in the washing machine when I get home and that removes it. As someone else said, hand sanitizer gets it off while you're on site. Sometimes I get the stuff all over my hands and that works a charm.
