    NC>Boone>Tomorrow, with late-night car access?

    This is pretty spontaneous.
I'm going to Boone tomorrow, and would love to hammock-camp nearby.
    Any recommendations?

    I saw this thread: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=54423
but didn't see anything "definitive" in it, apart from a TN site over an hour away.

I'm going to a concert tomorrow at App State, and really just need a place to "crash" after the show.

I can set up during the afternoon.

    Thanks!!

I ended up choosing Flintlock Campground (http://www.flintlockcampground.com/). Seemed to get great reviews online, and very close to Boone.

Woman on the phone said "we'll put you on a site that backs up to the woods, so you can go way up in 'ere and find yourself a couple'a trees." :-)

And late-night car access is no trouble.

Further info when I get back!

    Talking Report from Trip

Wow! Spent 3 nights in NC:

1st night near Boone at Flintlock Campground (http://www.flintlockcampground.com/). Arrived to see tons of tent campers all crowded around a ring of campsites in a clearing. Parked at our spot and hiked a couple minutes into the woods away from everyone, and overlooking a lovely noisy stream!

Set up camp during the day, then rolled in again late at night after a music concert, found the campsite with no problem!

2nd night on Grandfather Mountain at Storyteller's Rock. Hiked ~1.5 mi from Boone Fork parking lot. Campsite was spacious with great trees and a wooden platform... (image)

...but the best part was the incredible view from atop the rock, along with mountain blueberries! (image)

3rd night in Pisgah National Forest at the Fish Hatchery. Parked in the main lot and hiked ~2.2 mi in & up to the rock face -- me out of shape and recovering from last fall's broken leg, it was exhausting but worth it -- and found another great site with great trees to hang from. Short walk down to the rock face for a truly breathtaking view:

That was a real good sampler of some nice places!

Great pic with the guitar on top of John Rock.

    Thanks Paul!
And I'm totally going to color-code my head-vs-foot ends after viewing your gallery! (https://www.hammockforums.net/galler...mageuser=24872)
I'm always getting them reversed & having to re-hang.
