Possibly a clever spring summer pad solution

This may have been done before but I thought it was worth a shot.

So I was planning to make a 3/4 pad for a temp range from 55f to 70f and had planned on using insultex for insulation and some sort of fleece material for comfort. I happened to be at my local sams club today and thought I might find a cheap fleece throw or something to give me a head start. I actually found something that might be a one stop solution for a pad. It is actually a large bath mat made with a foam core, fleece top, and a anti slip backer. I think it weighs less than a pound and fits my torso perfectly. I know there are lighter options out there but I hate the clammy feeling I get with most raw foam pads. The best part is that the mat only costs $10 and took no sowing. I have a trip planned for next week so I guess I will see how it does. I don't expect to see temps below 65 but it will be an interesting test anyway.

Here are a few pics of the tag.

Dunno. My experience with memory foam is that it collapses. That still may leave enough insulation in the temperature range you are looking at. Try it and let us know... ;-)

That is my biggest concern. Maybe it will only get me down to 60. I think it might still be worth it if it can get me to 60.

I would say it is about a pound ... so it is lighter than most mats out there but heavier than some pads.

    Smile Hmmm

Think I may give that I try. I too am looking for an inexpensive way to insulate at a moderate temperature. In a high moisture area the fabric may hold to much condensation to be effective. I am a newbie so please forgive my ignorance.

I bought from HH a shiny insulated pad-but have tested it yet.

Possibly a clever spring summer pad solution

Gossamer gear nitelite pad is pretty effective and super duper light.

Do you get much of the swamp back with a pad like that? I have a tendency to get hot, then wet, then clammy with most foam pads.
