New Mexico Any interest in the Santa Fe Nat. Forest/Pecos Wilderness?

I am considering a trip for 4 days in a few weeks into the Santa Fe Natl. Forest and Pecos Wilderness. I'm planning easy hiking due to the high altitude. Starting at the Santa Fe ski Area, up the Winsor trail to the La Vega Meadow. Overnight at La Vega meadow and start the next morning out to Santa Fe Baldy and Lake Katherine. 2 nights at Lake Katherine, hike back for one more night at La Vega meadow and back to the Santa Fe Ski Area.. Segmented, it's roughly 3.75 miles per day of hiking and around 15 miles total round trip.

gps tracks and trip report I'm using for research

    Any interest?

Love this country. I'm from South Texas and backpack Northern NM almost every year. If it wasn't for the 16 hour drive and the need for my customary three day elevation acclimation time needed I would join you in a heartbeat. What time frame were you looking at... just in case

Any 5 day stretch between August 19th and August 30th.. speaking of 5 days, I didn't count the days right.. my first post stated 4 days.. but we can always cut it short..

It's a long shot that I could make it. However there is a NM backpacking group that you might be interested in. They are always planing trips in that area. You might even be able to convert some over to hammocking. http://www.meetup.com/newmexicobackp...5932&_af=event

I guess I'm too late. Just found this thread and would be interested. I'd love to scout this area for an upcoming hunt in Oct. Any how...may be next time.

    Santa Fe in Oct

My son and I are looking at a fishing/hiking/camping visit for a couple of days the first week of October. We'd like some modest (2-5 mi.) hikes to streams and camping, either base camp or on the trail. We're not expert fly anglers, but we can cast and know the basics. Any suggestions or resources? Thanks.
