Just to muddy the waters, on my tarps I add a second tie-loop at each ridge tie-out point, but moved back under the tarp and facing inward. I can then tie a line between them, if I wish, to take the strain off the tarp ridge if I tighten the line, or to act as a clothes line if I leave a little sag in it. Obviously, drip prevention measures are called for.

You can tie a length of rope to your tarp webbing loops, then that rope ties to the tree. Saves on using long lengths of rope. The rope can be tied or clipped to the tarp, optional and a matter of preference. Or, run your rope from tree to tree, then throw your tarp over the rope. Either technique works fine, the tarp that stays put in the wind is a good tarp.

There is also an additional terminology of ridgeline: a rope that runs inside the hammock, suspending only your mosquito netting.

Paracord for a ridgeline? That's at least part of the op's problem.
