    hammocks in hotels

okay everyone I am asking for some help I am in need of a hammock stand that is small enough to pack and carry on trips and put up in a hotel. If someone has something in mind I would think about buying it. If you can help send me some pics or point me in the right direction and message me any and all help welcome.

I built a TurtleDog stand that I take on trips. I have not set one up in a hotel but I set it up in our bedroom for a while when I was having back trouble. There was plenty of room in the room for it. The carries the 76" poles just fine, but you could configure it with shorter poles if you are transporting in a car. You won't need a fly so you could get by with shorter poles.

The Turtlelady stand was developed for just this purpose.

Be prepared for some reading, the thread is quite lengthy and will lead you to the TurtleDog stand also.

I suggest saving some money and take your tarp and find 2 trees that's what I do when I go out of town and this may sound bad but I will go to a local gym and get a free pass and use their showers I embarrass my wife when I tell people what I do and I only do that if I am out of town by myself

I don't know of anything that would not be a pain to use in a hotel but if there is something out there you could not have found a better place for answers

I've found ways to hang inside a hotel room without bringing a stand... but I had to be fairly careful. For example, using doorways. I open a door, pass my webbing around the upper door hinge, or corner of the door. Close door. Repeat with a second door, or (carefully) a window frame. Hope like hell no one comes through the door.
So far, nothing broken, but I'm only 70kg :-)

Geez, what a great idea!?! Refurbish an old hotel/motel with minimal furniture, no beds, just hooks in reinforced walls, perhaps a pole at some central location in the room to accommodate multiple hammocks!

Does permethrin work against bed bugs, lice, and other stuff you don't want but might get at cheap hotels?

    Hmmm.....

I would wager that permethrin would deter bed bugs along with fleas....
Dakota, thats a good idea for the AT. You wouldn't need much more than
a floor and a shower, and a few rows of hooks on the walls. Everyone on
the AT will have their tent or hammock, and what a great way for them
to get inside and get cleaned up! Hmmm...... the possibilities!

I wish I had a good idea for you, but this is something I've been sweating for years now. I travel enough that I really want a solution. So far, I've only been able to find a way to hang in probably 20% of the hotels/motels where I have stayed. Only pattern I've ever really noticed is my odds are better in the lower cost and older places. The new and fancy places, my odds drop drastically. Adjoining rooms are your best bet all the way around. If the door to the other room is on the far wall from the entrance door to your room, you're probably going to be good to go using kiwiscoutwalksnz's method.

I had a very recent experience regarding hanging a hammock in a hotel room that worked out great. I explained my situation to the reservations person and she contacted engineering. After a day, she emailed me and said they have a room that will accommodate me. Course, it's also in a country that tends to like hammocks, so location, location, location.
    Trust nobody!
