How does this line tensioner work??

    I'm a bit 'gimmick-challenged', I think.

Set up my Exped Combi for the first time and found these plastic things at the end of the tarp guylines (tarp end has a plastic lineloc- which I did recognize...).

Any hints on how to rig these?
NB- in the pic, the 'loop' is at top left, end of line is at lower left.

    Thanks!

That's a new one on me. Looks like is suppose to hook onto a loop of cordage from the stake maybe?

Looks like you hook the loop on your stake and the plastic piece acts as a cam.

How does this line tensioner work??

It looks like a plastic prussik. I think you have it strung correctly. Put the loop around your stake and then slide the tensioner away from the stake to tension the line. Just guessing.

Search around here or on animatedknots.com for a million prussik how-to's.

Ah yes. Like a Figure 9:

That'll work but too fussy for my taste! But, I like tying knots.

I have one on my GG Gorilla pack. It is more of a cinch to tighten down on a pad or such used on the outside if the pack.

Look at this video from about 3:15 - 3:25. It looks like it's the tension hook that goes to the tarp.

FWIW - Ted is an excellent example of a poor video as he does not point out things like how the toggles and sliders work.

Ted is also an enemy of hammock camping as he does not use tree straps so he is asking to get banned most places where there is any control of what gets tied to trees. I hope you modify the suspension to include 1 in or wider tree straps.
