I concur. I'm going to do the zip off overcover for my own purposes, just to do it. You know me, I have to be different.

i understand completely. i'm sure it will be a great mod. i can def. see the desire for a fully removeable net.

I don't see much benefit to completely removing the net, but I could see how one more section of zipper would be nice. I'm specifically thinking of something like ZQ's #2 mod - the ability to roll up the netting and stow it out of the way would be pretty cool,

As others have said, the netting can act as a bit of a wind break and add a few degrees of warmth, and I would imagine even with a top cover the netting would provide some additional benefit from that stand point. So, I would probably keep the netting even in cold weather. Where netting removal becomes most appealing to me is for lounging, and having a net that can be rolled up out of the way would be pretty cool for that

For me personally, I wouldn't bother with the extra weight of that second zipper for the limited utility it would gain me, but I could see how some folks would appreciate it. Dunno whether its worth the effort, though...

I sold one of two HH's. I kept the BPUL because it has the zipper mod by ZQ and sold the Hyperlight. My son will be using the HH and I get the BB. Just can't let him try it out . I also bought it for the flatter lay, storage shelf (biggest selling point to me), top loader and foot box. I was pleasantly surprised by the straps and triangular buckles. They are lighter than the straps from Strapworks and the buckles I had on my Hyperlight. I use a JRB Hudson River and have found it slightly drafty under the legs. I was toying with the idea of getting something like a clip/cord that we used to connect to my daughter's pacifier. It would pull it up in the area between the butt and the feet.

First I bought a Hennessey Expedition off Whiteblaze. Nice enough, but heavier than I expected. So I bought a HHUltralight Backpacker. Really nice and good weight... but I kept hearing about the BB. So I bit and bought. All the best features of the HH without the problems (didnt need to add a zipper mod, and no bottom entry), plus it came with a second layer for my pad and a shelf for my stuff. I love it! The Exped will probably go up for sale on ebay eventually. The HULBA will stay with my other gear for my friends and grandkids to use.

I ordered the Blackbird (my first hammock) after reading the posts (lurking) on Hammock Forum. Testimony from happy campers/hangers is valuable. Highest thanks to Cannibal and Shug... Okay, even higher to Brandon (WarbonnetGuy).
