    DIY Stretcher style hammock

I've seen brief discussions regarding this but nothing real in depth.

Not that I am the voice of reason at all, but here is my take on the pros and cons.

Weight (due to stretchers), probably more unstable, more complicated and costly to build. That would be the negative side.

On the positive side; more comfortable to sleep in (IMHO), easier to DIY upgrades (weather shield, bug netting, under quilts) mainly because you have a flatter surface to work from.

    Any thoughts?
I've cut it twice and it's still too short.

Which hammock models are you comparing this to? I think every camping hammock I've been in is more comfortable than cots and spreader-bar hammocks. JMHO.

I've had little experience in either. Guess I just compare the cheap boy scout hammocks to the Pawleys Island in parents back yard.

Yeah - that's like driving a Pinto and saying you don't like cars.
