GTUL for my 4 year old

I was going to build a 1.1 hammock with whoopie or cinch buckle suspension, but after pricing materials, I would have about $50 in it. Is the stock GTUL suspension fine for kids. I realize its heavier than whoopies, but its free with the hammock! I can make a ridgeline out of techline or paracord for cheap. He's only 38 lbs and I don't see him getting more than about 60 lbs in the next few years.

I'm still fairly new, but I just finished using a GT Ultralight for myself for all of last week, and it supported my 160 lb carcass just fine. The only adjustment that I made to the suspension was to swap out the s-hooks for rings that I used as tension buckles. I imagine that you would have no problem letting your kid hang in one.

It would be perfect, and good for you to get em started early. That's great!

Thanks guys! Anyone know how long the factory rope system is? Will it be compatible hanging bunk style above me in a 10' hammock with whoopie hook suspension? Hoping to share a tarp.

You should be able to make that work, but you might get a bit of stretching with the ropes? Of course as light as he is I don't see it being a real problem.
