    Dutch biners idea

I ordered up some Dutch biners thinking I will clip my woopies right to the tree straps, then I almost can't forget and leave the straps (and more importantly, my Dutch clips) behind.

Will this work, or will I need some amsteel loops to clip the biners to?

If the loop is big enough, I don't see why you couldn't pull the
    whoopie around the entire tree.

Using any kind of small diameter rope will damage the tree.

Buying more Dutch bling to make sure you don't lose the Dutch bling you already bought? I'm sure Dutch likes your thinking!

You could invert the whoopies, putting the fixed loop on the end of the strap, and start using whoopie hooks. The whoopies will be permanently attached to the straps. The drawback of this system is that it has much less Dutch bling!

    Oohh, different Dutch bling. :-)
My main question is if the biners will clip to the straps.
My goal with the biners is to be able to switch if needed. I usually carry one long piece of webbing to hang my pack or whatever, but have used it when I needed the extra length. If i inverted the whoopie. I don't know if id have the flexibility.

Dutch biners are very small. I don't think that a 1" strap loop will fit in nicely allowing it to open/close for the whoopie. I agree with SilvrSufr, thats the Dutch way to go.

Inverting the Whoopies is less convenient to adjust in my experience. You usually have to remove tension from the weight on the suspension, even on an empty hammock by lifting the hammock to create slack on the line. With the Whoopies inverted the adjustable part of the line is away from the hammock on the tree side rather than hammock side and you have to reach out and pull away from you to tighten. Not easy especially once you have your quilts in/on the hammock along with any other items.

I was imagining something a little different in my mind when the OP
asked the question. As long as the tree strap is going around the back of the
tree, then the clip and whoopie can be the front third of the tree.
This part is pulled away from the tree, so I don't envision it damaging
    the tree.

As someone else pointed out, this would probably be more difficult to
    adjust.

Rather than attempting to jury-rig something so that you don't forget
your tree straps, why don't you just make a concious walk around your
hang site after you've packed everything. If you leave straps, you are
also likely to leave something else. Better safe than sorry.

If you do want to use the biners to connect the whoopie to your tree
straps, then you can always splice an eye into the single end of the
whoopie to connect your biner to, then you can still have the adjustable
end at your hammock as pizza pointed out.

Maybe I am missing something here, but I thought the Dutch Biners were not suppposed to be used for suspensions?

This is what the web site says:

This biner is meant solely for hammock ridgeline and are not rated for hammock suspension.

Use this Dutch beiner over the small one for RL and such...this one holds 1000 lbs.

    http://dutchwaregear.com/dutch-biners-pair.html

There are 2 types of dutch beiners.
