    Critique My Suspension

Please have a look at what I put together. Seems to work. I have even less experience with hammocks than even my post count would suggest.

My kit consist of: Woot~Yukon Outfitters double hammock, 14' straps from Arrowhead, two climbing rated biners, and I just added a structural ridge line made from Samson Lash-it.

The biners are held in a Marlin Spike Hitch. The SRL, which is my real concern, I simply tied a figure 8 loop and larks headed it to the suspension.

Looks ok. The true test is to get in it (slowly) and see if it holds your weight. You may have to adjust the ridge line a few times
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

The RidgeLine is fine since it only holds a small amount of weight compared to the rest of your suspension. I'm more worried about the "Spike" in your MSH. Be careful using the carabiner only instead of a toggle of sorts.

Like gunner said, get in slowly and test a few times to see if the straps slip.

    And welcome to the Forums.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Thank you, the ridge line has been an improvement.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on the MSH. I'm not sure it was intended to be a load bearing knot in this way. It sure makes for easy adjustment though.

I have used a biner in the same way and never had an issue, I'm 6'1 and 265. That looks like the factory lines coming off the hammock. That will be heavier than amsteel blue and may stretch somewhat, just an observation. It may not stretch enough to even notices.

Yes those are the factory lines and I'm thinking about some amsteel continuous loops to replace the factory lines but not so much because of the weight but because anytime I can go for the space age stronger then steel lastest gizmo I can't help myself.

Very similar to what I do, with a few changes.
My Bliss hammock came with similar length rope coming from the hammock. I removed a fist full of rope on each end by just having a loop to the gathered ends of the hammock and them connect my biners to it. So my biner is within a 2 inches of the ends of the hammock vs 2 feet. You have lots of webbing to make up the difference.
I then connected my ridgeline to the biners.
