VIDEO: Quick Overnight In The Sierras

This was Thunder's first trip since his knee surgery. We've been very slowly increasing his exercise. 2 miles is nothing to him. 3 miles is also easy. 3.5 to 4 is a bit tough if it includes hills so we take lots of breaks and I make sure he's well hydrated.

He did great. We got back yesterday morning and even though he slept and slept all day yesterday today he's bouncing around like a puppy again.

However, the big event of the trip ended up not being his knee recovery, but a local fire which affected us way more than we expected. I think you'll be surprised how much smoke there is as the video goes on.

But then, about 2:30 in the morning, a breeze came up and cleared out the smoke and we were able to watch the Perseids meteor shower.

I hope you enjoy it. Even though it was a short trip it was sure good to spend time in the back country with my buddy again.

Nice! My dog would have spent the three hours trying to dig that critter out. Good to see Thunder is recovering so well.

I noticed the cows were wearing bells, I am assuming is because their horns dont work

If I saw a sign that said, Bear Country, I wouldn’t get out of the car! lol Easy hikes are the best! A Sunday start sounds good to me! Those cows make a heck of a racket! The dog watching that hole was funny! It’s good that you got to see some meteors. Thanks for the Video, GregB,

Thanks for the video, it was great! Love your dog. Can't wait til I retire and can have a dog who will hopefully be a hiking partner. Hope his knee continues to do well. I travel too much for work to have one now. Beautiful country, thanks for sharing!
