    I thought the rule of thumb for rl length was 83% ? I started at 83% and played with it, found the 83% about right.

    I've always been told 83% as well. Mine is set at about 85% and is perfect. Everyone is different HYOH

    Another fan of the adjustable RL. I don't use the same distance depending on how long I have to make my suspension straps off of the trees for some reason.

    You can get all fancy with it or you can go simple like I do: paracord and a toggle. Adjust it to the trees you're hanging between and move on to the next camp chore. No need in over-thinking something simple like a string.
