Guess I'm not the only one that got wet. It started coming down about 30 secs before I got back to my camp at the pond. Unfortunately I had my Tarp setup to catch the breeze instead of in storm mode. I got wetter repitching than I did getting back.

Sarge - your UQ that you let me borrow was safe in a dry sack. Since y'all left before I got to y'alls area I did not get a chance to return it. We will have to work something out on that.

Not sure how far behind y'all I was but I left about 09:15 and got to the PL about 10:30. Took the Little Lake Creek Loop Trail on the way back. I think It was favorite section this weekend.

Yah, the real Heroes of the weekend was Pack Daddy and The Pack. They not only did the three miles with me on Friday to cache water, but the wnole 12 (or 16) mile Saturday route.

If you're coming to Fairfield, just bring it with you, and you're welcome to use it between now and then.

I may be passing through Rosenberg later this week. Will let you know for sure. Maybe we can meet up or I can drop it off at your place. And thanks again for letting me use the UQ and thanks for putting this all together. It was a very good experience and will try and get to others in the future.

Looks like everyone had a good time. Wish I could have made it out there too.

I had to web search “beauty berry” since we saw so much of it on the trail this weekend (think “The Purple Tunnel” – okay, slight exaggeration). Do so and you’ll find that:
    - the berries don’t taste so good raw off the bush (several of us would agree)
    - you can boil and strain them to make a tasty jelly
    - you can make wine from the berries, assuming you’re a big fan of the flavor
    - the leaves contain a DEET-like chemical that, when crushed, makes them a great natural mosquito repellent

I knew it! I had told Sarge that aside from the drought I thought that the aroma may also be a reason the mosquitoes were scares. I was not bothered by mosquitoes at the pond either. Great info!!

Had a great weekend. It was cool to meet some of the folks I hadn't met. Friday was fun, and the meetless fajitas were about as good as they sound. I consider any weekend that I make it back alive, a success. Good Times!
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong
