Has anyone used their TQ as an UQ? It seems like the UQ is usually thicker, since it is more exposed and performs the bulk of insulation, and the TQs are smaller and thinner. Does anyone use their TQ as a good moderate weather underquilt, or at least windbreaker? Do you find the hardware/channels/etc. needed to attach it to the exterior an annoyance when it's doing top quilt duty?

I have a Hudson River from JacksRBetter that is designed to function as both. Usually use it as a TQ but have used it as a UQ.

Sure. I've diy'd some quilts that perform well as both a uq or tq. It makes for a full length uq. Or fold it in half to be lofty uq.
I have the Hudson River as well and mostly use it as an UQ. The UQ suspension for it is removable so it isn't a problem at all when used as a TQ.
