Hit up your local camping store. I got my first bit for I think $.37 a foot.

Not a chain store though...They wont carry any.

I placed an order with strapworks and it arrived in 2 days.

Ha ha! Local camping store. I live in Jacksonville. The largest hick town in the country.

I think I'm going to swing by the new West Marine and see what they have. There is one store that might carry something since they carry climbing gear. I've got some 3mm stuff but I have no idea what weight rating it carries and I'm nervous about ending up on my butt.

If youre in a pinch...go to HD or Lowes and get some braided or twisted poly rope.

The poly web I got come from a store that sells a bit of climbing gear. Generally if they sell biners and such, theyll have bulk rope and webbing. Or, if they have any daisy chains, those work too.

I just got some 1" seatbelt webbing from strapworks. Quick shipping and i'm really happy with the webbing, seams to be almost no stretch.

I stumbled onto a deal from Speer last night. I talked to Ed this morning and he's shipping me 300' of 1" webbing (700# rating). $24 for the roll and $33.50 shipped. That's .11/ft shipped compared to a little over twice that at strapworks. Now I didn't price seatbelt webbing but what I priced was .17/ft before shipping. Not sure how many more rolls he's got. I'm hoping Priority will get it to me by Sat.

As for the line, the wife wants to take the kid to some Easter thing at Toys R Us. Darn the bad luck that the new West Marine is next door.

Another strap option is to buy a set of ratcheting strap tie downs from Home Depot. The straps are about 1" wide and already have a loop sewn in on one end. The looped end does have a steel S hook on it, but thats easy to remove w/ bolt cutters or a hack saw. The end result are straps with a factory sewn loop on one end that are off the shelf ready (w/ a quick bolt cutter surgery). The cost for a set of four ratchting tie down straps is about $16. The length of these straps vary, mine are 12' long.

So if you're going on a trip soon and don't have time to order straps or sew the loops you can still switch to rings/ straps.
