I have no problem obtaining the second permit in my name.

I will only be staying Thursday night and Friday night. Will it matter if I am not there the last night?

Good question. I'd say you'd have to be there, but I'll ask.

Sorry, I thought I posted but must have forgot to actually submit it.

    N/V (Bow/Stern)

By this scale I am a veteran but I would consider myself an intermediate paddler not an expert.

I have kelty 12 tarp I can bring and sure I have rope

I assume the chowder is cream based. I will have to pass or it will not be a very pleasurable trip for me. I am fine making something else for my son and I, so go with whatever you guys like.

Thanks Jayson for bringing the extra underquilt.

I'm not against trying something else, like maybe a tomato based Manhattan style clam chowder. Looking at the recipe, I think the components dehydrate well, although I might just go fresh. There's always a well simmered goulash. And I was just kidding earlier, chili's still a good option.

Toots and I won't be able to come in until Saturday morning - I don't get off work until 4:30 and it's about a 2 hour drive to the park, crossing in the dark doesn't appeal very much

    It'll be a one-night hang for us :P

Don't sweat it Fish, there's always next time. You might consider getting your winter outfit in order and coming along on our next winter hang.

One night's better than nothing. Good thing we're not going in too far.

For what it's worth, the 18th will be a full moon. I remember, 25+ years ago, paddling out of Canoe Lake just as the sun was setting and paddling all to Tom Thomson in the dark. Three goofs in a canoe with the centre guy sitting with a map, compass and red flashlight. It was great fun. Mind you we didn't have any real portages enroute and we had been doing upwards of a dozen trips a year back then.

To the rest of the group...

Two weeks to go!!! We should start wrapping up the details.

    CANOES
It looks like we have the following canoes:

    -Iguana-solo
    -quiet-solo
    -Jayson/The Boss
    -Chard/Bubba
    -Kasuko/ggreaves
    -Hotone/Son
    -80083r/Wife

That leaves four, so if we're renting canoes, we might want to consider either two doubles or a triple and a solo if Keg wants to solo.

    -Wolvaroo (R/N)
    -Chenvre
    -rofo (R/R)
    -keg-solo (can tandem is necessary)

Renters should probably call ahead to see if/when Algonquin Outfitters or the Portage Store will be open and tack on an extra half hour on their travel time to pick up thier canoes.

    GROUP DINNER
Any preferences on soups/stews? Manhattan Clam Chowder, Hungarian Goulash or Chili? Any other requests? Also, can we save the soup for the second night? That'll give us a leisurely day to prepare. Anyone baking?

Let's keep an eye on the weather forecast. If it starts to look like a standard EGL forecast, meaning scattered showers or flurries, then we'll get serious about tarps. I'll be bringing my axe and saw, but I suspect I won't be alone. There'll likely be enough to lay seige to a small sized fortress or battle a zombie horde.

Anyone have a large grill? I've been experimenting with a lightweight one, but it's not up to the task of handling a large group. We can suspend the pot from a field-tripod, so that should be fine.

Most of you have PM'd me with your cell number already. Although not required, there're helpful for coordinating our getting together or advise of someone running late.

    Two weeks...
