I used this video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQRoEpK-7SY) as inspiration, but changed up the design a bit. Using that same drape material from walmart(less than $5 a piece!). I used 3 drapes instead of 2. One drape is cut in half between the 'channels' of the drape. Each half gets sewn to the top one of the uncut drapes, effectively lengthening it by 50%. These 2 larger pieces are sewn together on both long sides, makes a tube that is around 10' long, and 10' circumference(estimated). Then I ran some cord through the channels on the end and added a cordlock to each(was like $3 for a pack of 4 cordlocks, either @ walmart or academy sports, I forget).
The tube fits around the hammock/ridgeline. I pull one drawstring closed at the end of my hammock near the carabiner, and climb in the hammock. Then I can slide the net all the way down, loop the drawstring through the other carabiner, and pull the cordlock closed.
I like this better than the bugnet in the video because:
1. Easy to keep the bugnet out of the way, but still have it attached & can quickly close it up(around 30 seconds). It stays out of the way until I need it.
2. Larger. I hang my backpack, guitar, water bottle, everything from my rideline. This bugnet pretty easily slides around all my gear. I did have to kind of guide it around the bottom of my backpack, but it just takes a second.
If anyone is curious, I can sketch out the way I have everything cut/sewn together. Let me know.
