Is there any reason why you couldn't lay right to left in a standard Dangerbird that's a left to right? Would the lay be all goofed up because of the cut?

The hammock body has no direction, but the net and overcover are cut to give it the asym shape.
If you sleep the wrong way it can put extra stress on the overcover/net and can damage it.
the body of the danger bird is not asymmetrical its just a big gathered end hammock, think rectangle. it gets its shape from the overcover or bugnet. if you want to lay the other way it may put stress on the zipper or just bunch up the bugnet/overcover. id ask papasmurf
Thanks for the replys. Thinking of ordering one. I seem to invariably find myself laying right to left, so better order the non standard version then.
I sleep both ways in my 72. I'm think of asking if a set of symmetrical covers could be made for it or a new one.
There is tension on the bug net sleeping the wrong way but the 72 is big enough to be forgiving. YMMV
I think the real question is which side do you want the zipper on. On my Winter knome I have a double zipper on one side and a single on the other.
The Darien UL has a double zipper on the left only. I usually sleep on my left side and like to face the zipper.

Winter Knome
I slept in the Darien last night on the deck and missed the stock market open.
These Dream hammocks are just too comfortable.

From how I understand the zipper system on the Dangerbird and how the net and shield are meant to be deployed, you put which ever one you plan to use at the foot end of your lay and zip it up from foot end to head end, and with having zippers on both sides, you'd always be facing a zipper, no matter how you layed.
Yes, that is correct.
Extra zipper sliders can be added to the DangerBird or RoamingGnome on one or both sides.
I've had folks damage the zipper and tear the netting by laying the wrong way. It's certainly possible with the longer/wider models, but in a narrower hammock there would be greater risk of damage.
