My recent hang in Maine was at the max extension of my SLS with about 25' to 30' between trees, never did measure it. This is an advantage when at group hangs and you can use trees others can't. And yes you do have to get the straps high on the trees. I have tarp tensioners to maintain tension on the tarp when the SLS sags under load as per Bearchasher. Straps could be a quicker hanging method but I just like playing with amsteel. It's also nice being able to just attach 1 hugger walk out the SLS with tarp, attach the other hugger, tighten the SLS and stake the tarp. Almost takes me longer to type it than do it. Meanwhile the hammock, net and UQ are still dry in the pack. Couple of pics , a drawing and my hang in Maine. When I get back to Florida I'll try to get better pics.

Ahh, so there is a tensioner between the hammock and the SLS. That keeps the tarp taught. I really like the SLS for setup. You run the tarp and then while under the dry tarp you clip on the hammock. I will probably play with the system a bit when I order my next batch of amsteel.

Just got my amsteel in for the new UCR SLS. Will start on it shortly and document with photos. If I can get my granddaughter to help I may get it on video.

Played with the new UCR SLS. Pretty much have all the bugs worked out once I got past the slippage. Ended up using taut line hitches on the unloaded ends which solved the slipping problem. Pretty simple fix really. When reattaching the tarp I used zingit prussiks which eliminated the last 2 pieces of hardware, 2- #1 s-biners. Too late this evening to get photos so I'll work on those tomorrow and get back then.
