My recent hang in Maine was at the max extension of my SLS with about 25' to 30' between trees, never did measure it. This is an advantage when at group hangs and you can use trees others can't. And yes you do have to get the straps high on the trees. I have tarp tensioners to maintain tension on the tarp when the SLS sags under load as per Bearchasher. Straps could be a quicker hanging method but I just like playing with amsteel. It's also nice being able to just attach 1 hugger walk out the SLS with tarp, attach the other hugger, tighten the SLS and stake the tarp. Almost takes me longer to type it than do it. Meanwhile the hammock, net and UQ are still dry in the pack. Couple of pics , a drawing and my hang in Maine. When I get back to Florida I'll try to get better pics.
