    UCO candle lantern

I have been debating on weather or not to get one and was curious as to the heat it puts off? and the open flame small enclosed space issue? and the review discuss how hot it gets when lit? Anyone have any thoughts that has one and used one while hammock camping?

The flame is enclosed in the housing but the top will get hot enough to burn you. If you hang it a few feet below your tarp you should be fine. Makes sure it's out before you sleep.

I always carry one but I really don't use it under my tarp. It is one of the items that is always with me. I use it when I can't have a fire and use a mosquito candle in it to keep the pest away.

Yep, it makes a tolable substitute for a campfire.

I do imagine it would raise temps inside a tarp with doors, but I'd not hang it from the ridgeline. The lower to the ground the better if it comes to that.

I'm looking at seeing if I can make some kind of stand for it to keep coffee warm.

I carry one, with the mosquito candle, its nice when your sitting there eating helps keeps gnats and skeeters away, if its raining or i want it under my tarp I will hang it from a continuous loop or dogbone, usually have one or the other, from my corner tie out. no real issues with heat after a couple of inches from the top..
It's not the boulders that throw us off balance, it's the pebbles beneath our feet

I have no problems with my collection of stoves; I feel competent handling fire but, for some reason, I reliably "brand" myself whenever I bring out the candle lantern. I rarely take it along these days.

    Good Luck
