    Hey! New and ready!

My buddy at work told me about this forum. He'd started using hammocks and the more I listened the more I wanted one! I bought a Byer Moskito the other day from REI. I'm going on a hunting/camping trip, and I'm most excited about not sleeping on rocks and roots. I'll put up pics of my first hang soon! Thanks for having me.

OutdoorDad, it's nice to spend some time in your new hammock in the backyard or some location that if things don't work out you can bail.

Olddog, I'm sure that would be the WISET thing, but I'm not known for my decision making skills! Ha ha! I will bring my fall back gear in case. The good news is that I'll be on about 600 acres, so I'll have a main camp site and scout around.

I'm really excited that this opens up new opportunities in hunting! I can camp closer to where I want to sit, but I don't have to worry about "finding a spot"!

Makes me wonder. Who has shot a deer out of their hammock? No not a deer in their hammock but while they were laying in their hammock. Mental picture, hang your hammock above a trail, wake up early and wait for that big one to walk out.

Hey! If you have to pack out a carcass anyway, why would you want all the extra weight? I try to go light and just eat what I kill in the woods, and hopefully bring home a little extra (works better with deer than squirrels and fish. Lol!)

Olddog, I have a new plan! I'm going to camouflage my hammock and try that! Why wake up and leave your site? Just take your site to the game!
