New Mexico with Older Son and Family

The cold and wet in camp wore us out but the off-roading in my son's new Jeep Rubicon was sure fun and the "hang" part of the trip could not have gone better -- everything worked flawlessly: I slept warm and comfy in my new DIY hammock under DIY tarp and DIY Marmot mod UQ. Temps were down to 40s and there were cold showers, mist, and fog in the mountains above Bonita Lake near Ruidoso. I could be better organized, though -- switching to hammock camping and UL gear provide a lot of new things to get my head around, eh?

The trees I found were too close for UCRs, renewing my internal suspension debate again. But clipping right into the tree straps worked out just right this time.

Looks like a fun family trip. Get that boy out of the gear hammock into a proper one of his own!
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

Yes, exactly! I'm working on hammocks for Christmas presents out of that MARPAT I got. That's my old lounging hammock that I gave my son. The boy likes hammocks so will have one like Granddad's soon.

LOL That's my old mountain tent that I gave away. They blew up a queen sized air mattress in there!
