Ditto, it looks like a worthwhile hike. Glad to be finally finding places worth hiking ( like Sipsey- in cool weather anyway!) that are not as far off for me as the Smokies and Ozarks, much less the Rockies!

I'm contacting the orthopaedist my wife saw about her ankle on Monday.

I've isolated the spot (back right shoulder at the ball-and-socket joint. When I hike, my chest and shoulder tighten up painfully for the first 1/2-mile or so, then they even out once the muscles warm up, but the tension runs down into my bicep and elbow. When it cools off, I have a quarter-size knot of muscle in that little point on my shoulder. It has improved a fair bit from last week, but I still want to get it checked out by a professional.

Come hell or high water, I'll be back hiking long-distanced my Memorial Day. That's when summer vacation hits, and I have many trails calling to me.

Keep us informed about the Alabama hang.
