    Storage pockets on hammocks

Hey all. I am wondering what you guys store in the pockets on the outside of your hammock? boots in a large one, headlamps, raingear? Just trying to configure before I sew them on. Thanks

Nothing . Actually I prefer to use a pouch on my ridgeline or the ridgeline itself. If you put much weight in the edge pocket it seems to pull the side of the hammock down. This bugs me. It may not bother you or anyone else, (I can be picky/strange about things like that) but it does me. Also if you attach a bugnet directly to the hammock body you have to unzip to get to the pocket. My .02.

I have considered that very thing. I would have to unzip the mosquito net either way. but being off balanced or pulling down would bug me too. What about your boots? Where do you put them at night?

I've got a Clark NA and the pockets work well. Boots, of course in an easy to reach outside pocket. Depending on the weather, I'll keep extra clothing, a pack towel, even my eBook in an easily reachable pocket.

I hang my boots off of the foot end of my hammock or simply set them on the ground directly underneath the hammock.

Directly under me on the ground. If I was going to have really high winds & rain I may tie them together & put them across my ridgeline, but haven't been in that situation yet.

My boots are outside the hammock, either on the ground, draped over the suspension or in a gear hammock depending on my set up and the weather. My camp shoes hang from the ridgeline inside so I can slip them on quickly and easily if I need to exit the hammock. I am under strict orders never to go barefoot so I need them available.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Mine usually go directly below the hammock too. In heavy rains I have been known to clip them between the hammock and rings on my suspension; think I've done it 3 times. But, I think they are happier on the ground in their element.

Spiders will crawl in there Cannibal and hide all the way up to the toes waiting to bite the big one when it goes in there. Just thought I would share that with you. That is why I bag mine.

One word: Permethrin. It goes on everything, except my skin.
I take great pleasure, and pride, dumping dead spiders out of my gear in the mornings.
