30d silnylon vs the feel of 30d ripstop nylon?

Well guys this is probably a stupid questin, but I ordered a while back some 30d silnylon from DIY gear supply. And I made a tarp out of it but feels rather plasticky.
I'm wanting to make a 30d ripstop nylon hammock (black) to give it a try. But I don't want it if it has the same plasticky feel as my 30d silnylon tarp does its the stuff that I beleave is 9.10$ a yard at DIY gear supply? Anyone know the answer do they feel the same or no? Thanks guys!
Btw the 30d ripstop nylon from DIY gear supply would work fine as a hammock right? It's only treated with DWR or whatever you call it. Thanks a tone guys!

Ripstop nylon won't feel as rubbery as the silnylon does. And yes it will make a fine hammock.

I believe the sil feels papery because it is calendared. That's why it's so thin and papery.

Normal 1.1 ripstop will feel very soft and more "fabric-like".

I got the non-calendared Coyote Brown 1.1 from DIY gear supply. Super comfy hammock. And it was 68" wide, vs the advertised 64" - bonus in the comfort department.

Sil versus uncoated pure finish fabric will feel completely different. The silcone on the sil makes is waterproof, slippery and firm. A pure finish fabric with be much softer and suitable for a hammock body. Gear supply has several pure finish fabrics available with no DWR.

Alrighty good I didn't want it to feel the same as the silnylon. I can't find completely untreated 30d silnylon black at DIY gear supply that's 64inch wide. This one had DWR of it but I guess that's not really a big deal.
