Webbing stretch problem I have a question.

    Hey guys viper here!
Alright I know about nylon Pollypro and Polly strapping that should go with Polly because lowest stretch.
From my experience is that whatever kind you use say your using a marlin spike hitch method, it seems like to me that say I have two trees same distance around. And I have one marlin spike hitch up buy where a carabeaner or Dutch clip would be(maybe just like few inches lower or whatever) and on the other tree say I had e marlin spike hitch servile feet down the webbing more towards the end of it.
From my experience it seems like the more strapping I guess that's holding your weight the more it stretches (so the strap with the marlin spike hitch closer to the end would stretch more then it would up buy like a carabeaner?)
Does this make since to you guys and has anyone els seemed to notice this?
-just wana hear your guys opinion

I try to select trees much closer together than most. Straps and vuckles allow this more than whoopies. I try to minimize the length of webbing that extends from tree to hammock. My legth of webbing is for larger diameter trees. I like less sag than most and choose trees and hang accordingly. Some will like it different. But to minimize stretch the most significant variable us the length of cord/webbing under load. Minimize that and you minimize stretch.

Yes, the farther the knot is away from the tree the more stretch you'll have, becuase you're loading more length of material. Unless you need the knot lower for some reason, put it at the tree.

It's the same as with something like shock cord. If 1ft of shock cord stretches to 2 ft then 6 ft of shock cord will stretch to 12 ft.

Yeah, all webbing will stretch, whether it be Nylon, Polyester, or polypro. Just Polyester stretches the least. I try and get the toggle as close to the tree as possible. Also, heavier webbing that has a high breaking strength like 3000-3500 lbs, stretches very little compared to much weaker webbing in the 1200-1600 lbs. It adds weight to your pack but I think it is worth it in the end.
