Great access to the woods in Colorado is pretty much everything west of the 25 as far as I'm aware. East gets too plainsy for me. My vote goes to anywhere around the Springs, all the way north to Fort Collins, and anywhere west of that line. You could pretty much blindly throw a dart at a map of Colorado and have like a 70% chance of being happy with the access you have to the backcountry, lol. Gorgeous state, too.

You Colorado guys need to throw out some suggestions of where to have it. Get a discussion going. The year isn't getting any younger.

Any good spots in Roosevelt NF? That's closer to me than probably anywhere else in CO.

+1 This would be good for me too, as a move to Colorado is sooner rather than later, hopefully before the years end. I'd like to hear how this goes, it'd be worth the drive. I'd follow this maybe as far west as Breckenridge.

    I'm interested. When and where?

Has anyone camped at Red Feather Lakes, about 30 miles north-west of Fort Collins? It's a campground, which is not everyone's cup of tea, but it did sound interesting. Check it out: http://campincolorado.com/federal/ar...bow_lakes.html

Have to call and see if/how many hangers they could do. Then depends on interest, but they say they do not accept reservations. Maybe problematic. Any other locals have ideas? Warbonnet guy? Cannibal.......someone would have to email him I do believe. I know we can't hang in state parks, only federal.

something in these areas would be best for us also as it would only mean a 6-7 hour drive, i have an elk tag i need to fill here in the black hills which starts october 1st and runs the whole month, hopefully i fill right away or that could interfere depending on if and when a hang get scheduled

Just FYI - most of the people who have historically planned most of the Colorado hangs have either moved away from the state or become less involved in the forums.

Someone new is gonna need to step up and get this show on the road.

Now, if any of you want to come to a California hang, I might be putting something together in a few months...
