How to hang on a ship?

It seems that next summer my wife and I along with a few others are accompanying one of our granddaughters on a cruise in celebration of her graduation from high school. That part is easy. What isn't easy is planning how I will sleep on the trip. Me and beds are a no go, unless it is a last resort. This may be a last resort unless somebody can help me figure out an acceptable way to hang in that little room. So, if you have ever pondered this problem, share your thoughts. I admit that I really can't see a rosy outcome but I can always hope. Thanks.

I have been on a couple of cruises over the years sans a hammock. The last trip I was really looking at all the places you could actually hang for the night. I did not see any in the cabins. They are everywhere on the deck...if the crew will let you.

They close off certain areas at night and those are probably the most ideal spots. However, you will have to wait until the party crowd dies down to get some sleep. One the flip side the wind can be wicked top side on some cruises.

i would be curious on the solutions...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Thanks guys. I have been on a cruise, and as you say, plenty of places on deck, if allowed, but not in the rooms. Oh well.

the cabin decks usually have heavy metal doors separating them from the adjoining cabin. There might be a way to hang from the metal frame holding the doors... You'd need adjoining cabins to have the distance, though. You might also need something to keep the door propped open - I can't recall if there is a latch or not.
Otherwise.... Nap under the palm trees during shore excursions

My family and I went on a cruise in the Mediterranean this summer and I was able to hang my ENO Doublenest on our deck. I have been meaning to get the pictures posted for a while now. I will do my best to get those up soon. Hanging while underway at sea was great.

Hanging while underway is one of the best kind of hangs you can get IMO. Crappy ships have places everywhere to hook in. Good luck on a nice ship.

I just can't imagine where you could hang a hammock in a room on any decent cruise ship. I am also quite sure that they will not allow you to hang anywhere else either. If you have a nice enough room to have a decent sized deck, that is probably your best option unless you can bring a portable hammock stand with you.

I worked for Carnival Cruise Lines for 36 months and was on the big blue for 34 of those months. If you get a cabin with a balcony then you will have no problem Slinging up. One side on the balcony rail and the other on your dresser / tv stand. All the "furniture" in your cabin will be bolted to the wall and can be used as an anchore point.
If you do not have a balcony you will have a bigger problem with finding the room lengthwise to hang.
Either way just keep in mind that you are not going to find a lot of Things that you can wrap around to make a connection point, but plenty of things you could hook on to. get a ratchet strap from home depot that has the rubber coated hooks on the ends and cut them off. They hold a few thousand lbs and the hooks won't damage the things you hook on to.
I had a doublenest set up in the backstage of the ships theater, it made hurican season a little more livable.
Have fun on your cruise, and give those poor social hosts a break
