Zing it for a ridge line will it prusik to itself

I am looking to get some zing it and some dutch gear for a ridge line. can I use the zing it for prusiks on the zing it or is their something else that will work better? I did not see any other lines on Dutch's web site. So if I need something else where would I get it. Thanks for all your help !!!

If you use a lot of wraps, it works okay. I think some folks use mason line for the prussiks, and I think it grips a lot better.

I use the zing it 1.7 on 1.7 but it required a lot of wraps. I swapped to 1.7 on 2.2 and it works much better now.

If you burnish the Teflon coating some by running the prusik over it repeatedly they will hold better than you want them to at times. I do this with all my ridgelines and guys. When the Zing-it gets a dull fuzzy look to it you're there. It will actually feel smother to the touch than new zing-it. Once the line gets work worn, I don't use extra wraps.

I have 1.75, 3 loops on the prussic holds. When I used some like 1.2, it took 4 to bite.

That is correct. Any line can be prussiked on to any other line that is same or larger. That is the prussik needs to be same diameter or smaller than the host line.

The most important thing would be to properly seat the prussik. Don't make the mistake of going fast and getting frustrated when it doesn't work, due to not seating the knot properly.

I use pink Mason's line. It isn't anywhere as strong as zing-it, but it works great for me. You shouldn't have any problems with it.

A Klemheist might be a bit 'grippier' than a Prussik knot.

As others have mentioned, having the Prussik loop on a smaller line than the main line helps a lot. The bigger the difference the better the grip and the easier to un-jam (in climbing we used to use 5mm Prussik on 9mm or 11mm rope..)

    Zing-it sure is slippery!
