11' to 12' of polyester webbing on each end.
Trust nobody!
I like them long. Somewhere around 15 feet each. I also have extra guy line length on my tarp. That opens up a lot of options on places to hang. I changed after giving up a couple killer spots because my webbing was a couple feet too short. Only adds a couple ozs.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Wait a tic...
I'm looking to buy some longer webbing after a few hanging tests show the 12' Harbor Freight straps to be JUST long enough for trees 12' to about 15' apart. Anything longer than that and I would need an additional line between the straps and the hammock.
Or am I missing the fact that people use additional lengths of cordage between their webbing and their hammocks?
I am having difficulty trying to picture your set up. I have 15' and usually hang 12-15' spans with a whole huge length left. 12' would do me just fine.
I loop the webbing around the tree and clip the end with a biner. The other end goes to my ring buckles and after snugging tight I would guesstimate I have 6-8' left over depending on the tree diameter.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Thanks for the quick reply, Rev.
I'm using my looped ends to connect to my hammock and wrap-tying the webbing around the trees, using up the length that way. Now that I say that, I'm sure I could find a more efficient way of using the webbing... :duh:
I was going to skip the ring buckles for this trip, but I'm thinking they're entirely too convenient after even only a handful of test hangs.
