Great Work

Great work Dutch, very nice design. Have you thought about sewing your version directly to a sleeping pad like my strappack? Might give your pack some additional gear support, and prevent the pad from slipping around when lying in it.

Thanks for all the nice compliments.
Arkwater Looks great! Have you thought about using the spreader bars as some sort of frame when in pack mode? Would be sweet if you could!
I have thought about that, and I can still do it. The wings of the hammock roll up and are held in place by velcro. I can just roll the poles up in it. My only fear is I will drop the pack and the sharp edge of the pole will put a hole in the hammock. This is the first time I used dedcated poles and I really like them instead of using my hiking poles.

GrizzlyAdams Cool job Dutch. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.
Me too Grizz, me too
jeffjenn I have been waiting for this day since you first mentioned a version #2. I must say you didn't dissapoint! Looks great!!! Now when can we expect the step by step instructions?
I started out with intentions of writing instructions. Then I kept adding stuff and adding stuff. I was planning on making it more simple and totally went the other way. I still plan on writing instructions for the body, but I don't think i will be writing how to make the things like the shoulder pads and the mesh pocket or even the bridge shape.
Do you really need Helen Keller to show you how to be blind....just close your eyes man.

DGrav Amazing! Dutch = Super Genius
I am looking forward to showing it off and seeing you again at MAHHA

pedro Nicely done! Very well thought out, Dutch.
Cannibal Still one of my all time favorite builds here on the forums! Glad to see a sequel.
Thank you

Shug Mighty, mighty well thought out Dutch. I gotta lay eyes on that sometime..
Boy I hope that happens. I have a list of people on HF that I would love to go hiking with. You my freind are pretty high on that list.

Cedar Tree, Although the pad doesn't really slip around in the hammock it would be nice to have it more secure in the pack. Now it is dependent on thethe pack having enough stuff that the side straps compress it to hold it in place. The problem is the pack is only 13" wide and I am ...well wider then that. When the z-rest is in the pack it is vertical. Your Strappack was certainly an inspration to me in making the BS. I met you and saw your strappack in 03' in Hanover, NH. You can also see that you Packa that I bought at Trail Days last year is a great fit for this.

Dutch that is very creative. The most multi-functional Bridge Hammock (or any hammock) that I have seen.

Plans?

I know it's been a while since the last post on this thread, but would you be willing to work out some plans? This would be awesome to use on a thru hike. Maybe a little heavy, but it's too cool to pass up...

Thanks!

I have tried to write plans for the BS and it is just too hard to describe how to make many parts of it. Although I don't concider it heavy I also don't think it would do well on a thru. There is no bug protection. Packing up in teh rain is kind of a pain with a gearskin. You have to spread everything out on the ground. I also am always scared I'm going to lose something out the side. Never had yet but it always worries me. I concider it a good fair weather pack/hammock. It also is really cool to show off at hangs.

Sometimes posts come and go so quickly. This one just lasted 2 days. It is good to see some renewed interest. Of all the things i have made my bridgeskins are the ones I am proudest of.

Love It

Dutch, interesting enough I have looked at this multiple times recently.

Just thinking If your hammock was multi use, and you used a Poncho Tarp, then your shelter jsut took on double duty..

I really would like to see this up close as well. Did you say it weighs 1lbs 7oz?

But to my original reason for posting..

THIS THING IS GREAT... Amazing work Dutch..
