    replacement Biners for HH?

Hey, I notice in some pics that people are replacing the webbing with biners on HH's. Why is that?

    thanks.

I'm a little confused on your question...the HH doesn't have webbing to replace...?

Do you mean replacing the Spectra cord supports with webbing supports? Some folks just prefer webbing. That way you can leave the tree huggers at home so you have 2 fewer pieces of gear to worry about. And you just wrap the webbing around the tree, which is easier/quicker than the HH lashing.

Just preference, that's all. You can use them with or without biners.

I cut the spectra and put biners on. This way I can unclip the HH from my webbing straps..that have a biner also....when its raining for easier packing up.

Just converted mine today (actually, Black Bishop did and I more or less watched). The conversion makes it much quicker to set up and take down. Instead of haing to put up the huggers, center the hammock, tie and untie the Hennessey lashing, you just wrap the webbing around the tree, clip the biner and cinch down the webbing at the buckle. Sounds harder, but you can do it in 1/3 of the time it takes to tie that friggin HH knot. BD

Adjustment is where you really save time. I can get hung and fully adjusted in way less than 2 minutes with the buckle setup.

And you can adjust the hammock from UNDER the tarp if the wind/rain changes direction.

I am one of the people who use biners and webbing on my HH. I don't use buckles or the ring setup, I simply tie to trees using a 4 wrap knot.

Biners aren't really needed, but I love them. You can hang items from the biner or remove the webbing strap in a second if needed. It also allows me to switch the same set of webbing straps from my HH to any of my DIY hammocks.

    OOOh. I get it. neato.

OK, so can you tell me or link me to some directions for this? I think the main good thing would be the adjustable factor, as blackbishop said.
    thanks.
