The hex fly looks good. More coverage. Does it hold up well in wind ? The stock fly just flaps away in strong wind. The one night I have been out gusts to 40 mph. I go tired of adjusting and just dealt with it. Side tie outs are ok, I added guide line tensioners, saved alot of time there. Until I can get the hex I will try adding a ridge line to fly, tree to tree ridge with prusik at each end to tension.

I have a hex fly which works for me in the woods but I avoid windy situations with it. You may not be able to, so I'd recommend considering a cat cut tarp in lieu of the hex, which isn't bad but there is better out there.

No cutting of the stock rope. Adjustable. Easy to put up since you can leave the prusik on the hammock and just clip and go.

Also, it is cheap and not much incremental weight.

I added these loops as soon as I saw this post, made adjustments a lot easier. Great idea, no cutting or modding the stock lines and it was free. The only thing I did differntly was add a figure 8 on the loose end of the hammock susspension line after I got the tension set. That way if it were to slip it cant go to far.

    HH Exp Update

First of all Thank you too all who gave advice about the HH. This is a great setup. Tom got it right for sure. The suspension was made easier by mod the huggers to ring/buckle. Have used the HH for a total of 5 days out in the woods very comfortable. Temps from 30s to 70s. Found I need a UQ. For now using space blanket with a fleece over and sleeping bag as TQ. I detached the stock HH fly. It is now a stand alone fly with its own rl tieouts. This worked well in the rain. A little water on the sides of the hammock but still dry inside. However with the diamond shape there is not alot of working room unless I put the hammock in the skins then it was ok. OES tarp is on top of list ! Im sure this has been covered before. Has anyone converted an HH to full webbing suspension using something like the JRB triglides? My diy speer hammock has webbing seems to be much faster setup time. Any advice on how to mod my HH or is it even possibe to remove cord to install webbing?
