Hey guys.
I've seen a thread talking about a triple layer hammock, but it was mostly when thinking of weight and "heavy" hangers. I started this thread to get your input on a triple layer hammock, but with an insulation mindset.
I saw the MMG Bivy hammock which seems really cool (http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/feat...-bivy-hammock/) , but when you want to use the double layers for a pad, you lose the "bivy" advantage.
So how about three layers? You could use the bottom two layers for a CCF pad, and you could get inside the hammock using the top layer as a hybrid between a bivy and hammock sock. You could even make the bottom layer out of a tougher nylon material, so you wouldn't need a ground sheet when you'd want to "go to ground" and use this hammock as an actual bivy.
Has this ever been tried, and what would be the pros and cons ? I know weight would increase, but I think it might be worth it for a very versatile and capable system
