    Help! Short guy blackbird

    alright ya'll, in a dilemma here! I am 5'7, 160ish, and looking at getting a WBBB 1.1. Any short guys out there with one want to give me some advise? Is it comfortable for you? Does it stretch? I'm no gram weenie, but it just seems like so much material for a guy my size. I'm good on the sewing machine, so my other option is to do research, get the material, sew something up and end up with a hammock that's lighter and smaller but not nearly as good.

    Not a short or light guy but...;

    The 1.1 dbl works like a charm for my 275ish self, can't imagine that it would stretch too much for a 160ish hanger. I am considering an BB XLC 1.1 dbl for my 6-2 self for a smidge more length to escape the dreaded calf ridge (not that bad actually). I'd guess 5-7 would offer a real nice and big sweet spot in a stock 10' BB. Did you consider a 1.7 single or are you wanting to use the double for a pad?

    My buddy is about the same size as you and he loves his double layer BB.

    My wife is 3" shorter than you and has a 1.0 Dbl BB. Loves it. If I want to make her mad I suggest I might sell her hammock. She then suggests what part of my body I might loose.

    She has managed to turn completely around in her hammock while sleeping

    I'm right at the weight limit and like my SL 1.7. At 160lbs, can't see there being too much of an issue. A single layer will feel a little more stretchy than a double layer but I don't find it less comfortable and if you're a gram weenie them you should go for the single layer.

    I'm wanting a single layer for weight/bulk purposes. My insulation is topquilt/underquilt combos. I have learned in the past that the more options I leave myself with, the happier I am, so I'm not completely against a double layer. But my quilts keep me pretty warm, and if I ever get into a situation where I will need to supplement my insulation with a pad, I will probably sew a double layer hammock with no bugnet.

    I am under 5 ft. WBBB1.0dl ( Got the double so my husband could try it a few nights. )

    Periodically, think about how much extra fabric I am carrying backpacking.
    I could have a significantly shorter hammock.

    YET : love the shelf and footbox where the backpack goes, off the ground and tree;
    dry and away from critters looking for salt.
