Dynaglide whoopies - how long do they hold up?

What is a safe expiration for dynaglide whoopies? Estimated # of hangs?

I used mine for 6 months going out almost every other weekend and they look fine. Other that a little debris getting into the bury they still function perfectly.

I've never had one fail. OF course I've only been at this 2 and a half years and the majority of my Whoopie sling time has been indoors. Wait, I did remake the two I hang from the wall from because I had tied knots in them to shorten them about half an inch and it was fraying. It's bad news to knot Amsteel. It reduces the strength by half. That I stayed with those knots for a year and a half before replacing, sleeping every night on them, speaks to the strength of Amsteel.

Now I just have fixed length buried ends.

I'm no expert but for kiteboarding I replace lines every two seasons. An article on climbing lines durability (and straps) quotes:

    Retiring slings and cords

More work needs to be done in this area but our limited testing on our own used 7mm cordelettes and used webbing indicated a significant reduction in strength as the material wore. BW 7mm static cord that was 18 months old and well used but appeared to be in good condition failed consistently at 60% of the same cord in new condition. Tested three times the used stuff was failing at 2,600lbf in a single loop configuration and the new cord failed at 4,200lbf. Well used 1” webbing failed at 70% of its original tensile strength. Obviously some reduction in strength over time is to be expected. It would be interesting to quantify appearance, use, and time in this context and do more research on this topic. It was surprising how much strength 7mm cordelettes that appeared to be in “good” shape had lost. For now the recommendation of replacing cords and slings that get heavily used every year seems to make sense.
Much thanks to Scott Newell and Ashley Williams of BlueWater Rope for providing materials, advice, staff time, and the testing equipment for these tests.

And from my experience, once you fall, you realize you were still hanging a little too high.

Haha, I couldn't agree more. I always do a spot check below for sharp sticks/rocks just in case.

Sounds like we have similar methods.
