    Tarp for 2?

I'm looking to purchase my first tarp and was hoping that if I got a bigger one, it would work to cover two hammocks hung in a V with 3 trees (if that makes sense). Does anyone do that? What tarp(s) would you recommend? Any reasons NOT to use one tarp for two hammocks (other than inadequate coverage in harsh conditions)?

I'm a fair-weather camper/backpacker, so if big storms are predicted I wouldn't go. But in the Smokies where I usually backpack, there's almost always SOME rain. I also don't head out in really cold weather, so winter coverage isn't an issue.

    Thanks!

I have had the superfly over two of us. It is a pretty big tarp. The V though can not be all that wide. I have also had two tarps over lapping one another so that there was coverage all around us.

I would add that if the tree diameter is wide enough, you can use the same 2 trees for both hammocks.

Just move the suspensions from dead center of the trees to the sides. Then you can either bring your own spreader bars or make them from sticks. When you have your suspension up, make a wrap around the ends of the stick with the suspension to keep the hammocks a little apart.

Then you have your very own 2 bed setup... under 1 tarp.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

You are describing a tarp called The Honeymoon Suite built by Smokehouse. He's a great guy and it's a great piece of gear for the couple that hangs together.

I have one and love it.

Here's some more looks at it. And here too.

Wow. Love that Honeymoon Suite. May just have to invest in one of those if I can ever get my hubby into hammock camping. I'll have to start with something a little cheaper in the meantime, but this gets me dreaming big! Thanks, everyone!

    Tarp for 2?

Used the Superfly with my wife just a couple weeks ago. Worked perfectly.

Most of the larger tarps will work, those with doors will work even better. Here is UGQ Winter Dream. We are setup double with trekking poles here but have used three trees as well.

sr1355 - Ingenious! I don't currently use trekking poles, but this is another good reason to consider them. How do you rig 'em up between the hammocks?
