    Scouter new to hanging

    Hi All,
I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster from Connecticut. This spring I was talking to another leader about how his Troop hammock camps, and how he was going to have to rough it that weekend with us on the ground.
That got me interested so I picked up one of the Woot deals last month and did one night in the backyard so far (with so so results).
I have my straps and cinch buckles, and even had a question answered on the Scout Circle webcast this week.
I'm wondering if any of the DIY solutions for UQs can be done by a novice without a thread injector.

There is a no-sew Poncho Liner underquilt. I'll see if I can find the link. Oh, and welcome to the forums. There are lots of scouters here.

Hello from a fellow scouter from California. There is a TON of information to be had on this forum.
    - We're never going to survive this!!
    - Nonsense. You only say that because no one ever has.

One Assistant Scoutmaster to another, I encourage you to try a new skill and develop that skill. Just like we preach to our youth, you may find that you are far more capable than you think you are plus you might find that you are having fun learning.

Just one ASM to another though, HYOH.
Happy Trails to one and all.
Enjoy the outdoors wisely and elevate your perspective.

I don't mind learning to sew by hand if I need to (the wife will love that). Just don't see getting a machine at this point, and I have lots of old sleeping bags that I can recycle.

Welcome from a fellow ASM. We have our OA Fall Fellowship in Oct. I hope my WBRR comes in time. The ground is getting tough on my back.

Welcome to the forums. I am a Scoutmaster up here in Oregon and tend to agree with all of the above. Personally I just broke down and purchased a UQ and TQ.. so much easier than using a tread injector.
    Anyway.. Welcome to the forums.

    Jerry,
I have listened to your podcast for years. I miss listening to the PTC crew but I understand how things go. Hope football season is treating your son well.
