    Triangle Thingies....

Being a tinkerer at heart I've decided to make, modify, or recycle everything for my hammock. The DIY bug has bitten me and I willfully submit to it's poison. At this stage I'm working on an underquilt and the triangle thingies seem like the logical means of suspension. Could someone tell me what the general size is for these "thingies"? I've got all the materials needed, I just need to know what size to make them.

    Thanks

If I am not mistaken the size of the triangle thingy depends on whether your underquilt is full length or 3/4 length

That makes sense. I'm converting sleeping bags so they'll more than likely be 3/4, to take some weight off. Guess I'll just wing it. The worst case scenerio is that I have to make more! Darn!!!!

    Thanks Riddled

If you are using a no net hammock just put some prussic loops on the ridgeline. If you are using a hammock with a built in net I would just use a triangle of cord. Start out at about 10" long down the middle and adjust from there. The goal is to have the quilt pulling up more than out.

The guy that made the original triangle things really over did it with the fabric triangles when some cord worked just as well.

I made some para cord triangles but am hesitant to have them over the net material on my WBBB. Anyone doing this? I'm paranoid of wear to the net.

This is my concern as well. I don't want a hole rubbing through the netting

If the cloth is not needed, that makes it easier. I've got a few ideas on this, some of the might even work! I'll post when I get further along. Thanks for the input guys and gals.

Yep, I use cord on my daughter's WBBB with no problems. Might as well just use the paracord cover to allow it to lay flat across the top.

I made a set using a wide ribbon over the RL, to limit the wear.

It isn't the perfect picture, but I think it shows the principle.

I will be trying them out this coming week.

    Cheers!
