Peaks of Otter, Virginia

Here's a link to some pics / video I took the past 2 days hiking to the summit of Sharp Top mountain, part of the Peaks of Otter.

I camped at the campground at the base of Sharp Top. I took my folding hammock stands and set up my hammock on the tent pad. I used a Clark NX-250 Jungle Hammock and a DIY underquilt made of Insultex. For a "top quilt" I used a USGI patrol bag unzipped (the green bag). I was expecting the temps to drop drastically at nite, but they never did. I didn't pull the bag over me until about 4am. I used the large Hennessy tarp. It did rain some, so I got to check out my seam seals - all is well.

I have stayed ar PoO twice and loved it both times. In fact, this past weekend, two of my kiddos (not knowing of the others' request) asked to go back. The older wanted to walk the trail again and the younger remembered all of the animal activity that we saw.
