Dog Bone Amsteel Loop for HH

Made a Pair of these to replace the stock lines on the expedition & hyperlite. The loops allow the use of whoopie slings/ Dutch Hooks/Biners/ Cinch Buckles.
The length is 15inches for the old style 2 burned hole whipped ends. The double locked brummel is Very Strong and easy to thread thru the burned holes. Continuous loops work but are harder to thread(on the old style) and require longer pieces of amsteel to make them. On the newer whipping method ( Nylon webbing) either the continuous loop or the dog bone works fine with 8" being plently long enough.

Interesting concept - I'm looking to replace the suspension on my HH and was thinking continuous loop was the way to go. What was the original size you started with and how much bury did you look to do?

    Dog bone

4" bury is sufficient on each end, allow 1" for shrinkage on each end. The loops are 2". I believe the original length was 29".

    sound approach

did my safari deluxe that way

went 1 step farther & added a stainless ring, to stop drips

started w/ 36" section, which left me enough room for my snake skins

    otherwise, all same

    works great

Both of my HH's are converted to dogbone ends too. I use biners to connect to python straps, so there are lots of suspension options to use with dogbones
